The Supposed Google Sandbox Effect
Recently I have had the opportunity to work on several websites that were starting out fresh. New domains not previously owned. No PR, no backlinks, no indexed pages. From everything that I have read the sites I have been working on should be in the “Google Sandbox” at the moment and I should not expect to see results for the next several months and yet 3 out of 5 of the sites have already been ranked and indexed by both Google and Yahoo and are already ranked on the first page for multiple low competition keywords. In addition 2 out of the 3 ranked domains have only been registered for 1 year. I always believed the “sandbox” effect to be a myth even though it certainly sounded logical that Google would need time to validate the site and make sure that it isn’t just another SPAM site entering the world wide web.
